In Memory of Kevin McCreadie: Visionary CEO, Trusted Leader, and Legacy Builder
AGF Management Ltd. is mourning the sudden loss of Kevin McCreadie, its Chief Executive Officer and Chief Investment Officer, who died unexpectedly at the age of 64. A transformative figure in Canadian asset management, Mr. McCreadie leaves behind a powerful legacy of leadership, innovation, and integrity.
He joined AGF in 2014 and became its first CEO from outside the founding Goldring family. Over more than a decade, Kevin led the Toronto-based firm through a strategic evolution that reshaped its core identity. He was instrumental in expanding AGF’s focus beyond traditional equity and fixed income portfolios to include alternative assets, such as infrastructure, private equity, and sustainable investment strategies.
Transforming AGF, One Strategy at a Time
Under Kevin’s stewardship, AGF grew to oversee $53 billion in client assets. Over the past five years, the firm’s share price increased by more than 150% — a clear reflection of investor confidence and market traction. His leadership not only stabilized AGF in a competitive landscape but positioned it as a forward-thinking asset manager committed to diversification, innovation, and long-term value.
As both CEO and CIO, Kevin balanced operational command with strategic investment insight. He led with discipline and foresight, always focused on delivering strong outcomes for clients, shareholders, and team members. His influence touched every part of the business, from product development to global distribution.
A Leader Remembered for More Than Results
Those who worked with Kevin recall a leader who brought not just results, but wisdom, humility, and an open-door spirit. He mentored rising executives, encouraged cross-functional collaboration, and fostered a culture of trust. His calm demeanor and clear-eyed perspective made him a steady presence in times of both growth and challenge.
Blake Goldring, AGF’s Executive Chairman, expressed the organization’s grief and admiration:
“The entire AGF team is devastated by the loss of Kevin, our colleague and leader. His impact on our organization – and the people within it – has been profound and will be lasting.”
Looking Ahead While Honoring the Past
In the wake of Kevin’s passing, Judy Goldring, AGF’s President and Head of Global Distribution, has been appointed as the new Chief Executive Officer. A long-time executive at AGF and current Chair of the Securities Investment and Management Association, Ms. Goldring brings continuity, strength, and a clear vision for the firm’s future.
“We have full confidence in Judy’s ability to lead the firm given her profile, vision and demonstrated leadership skills,” said Mr. Goldring.
A Lasting Legacy
Kevin McCreadie’s death is not just a loss to AGF, but to the wider Canadian and global investment community. His career, which included a successful tenure at PNC Capital Advisors in the U.S., reflects a lifetime of commitment to client trust, institutional performance, and responsible investing.
As the industry mourns, AGF will continue to move forward with the same values Kevin championed — transparency, adaptability, and a deep respect for people.
He is survived by his loved ones, colleagues, and a business that bears the mark of his vision.
