CHICAGO — Four young adults tragically passed away and 14 others sustained injuries during a drive-by shooting in the River North area late Wednesday night. The attack happened outside a restaurant and lounge that had hosted a music event.

Police said a vehicle approached the crowd and opened fire. The car sped away immediately. Officers arrived at the scene around midnight and found multiple victims with gunshot wounds.

Among the 18 people shot, 13 were women and 5 were men, aged between 21 and 32. The deceased include two women and two men. Their names have not yet been released. Authorities confirmed that three people remain in critical condition.

Emergency teams responded quickly:

  • Northwestern Hospital received nine victims, including the two women who died.

  • John H. Stroger Hospital treated five others, including the two deceased men.
